Weekend Shots: PSE Consumer Stocks YTD Winners and Losers

THE Philippine economy has been facing serious uncertainty. The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), being at the forefront of economic health indicators, has observed massive sell-offs significantly since the dawn of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), hence causing local stocks to trade at a bargain.

The lifting and relaxing of such ECQ in some parts of the country can ease the economic turmoil, with businesses to resume operations and productions. The stock market however remains unpredictable, and the thought of a further market crash, as threatened by the global financial crisis, is but a big deciding factor among our local investors before getting back into the game.

Others strongly believe that the local stock market has yet to reach the bottom, and that stock prices will dive even deeper through the trading days. As Business Insider writes, recent rallies can be seen as a classic trap.
