10 Thousand Jobs for Tourism Workers Affected by the Pandemic

The rate of unemployment is on the rise, even when restrictions are being lifted. Many have lost their jobs due to the pandemic, and others are still losing their jobs. The future is uncertain, as the global economy continues to fight economic recession. Some countries have experienced it while others haven’t gone through the recession yet.

However, a recent study has shown economic recession won’t be as deep as we expected. Though, most people still stand to lose their jobs as the economy resets itself. For this reason, various governments began issuing stimulus packages to their citizens to cushion them from the effects of the pandemic. In the Philippines, the state approved the enactment of the Bayanihan Act.

The policy enabled the tourism sector to acquire PHP 10 billion to cushion the industry. Nonetheless, the funds were a drop in the ocean since many have lost their jobs and the number continues to grow.  Hence, the 10K BPO jobs are a solution to take care of the tourism workers who have been left out on the PHP 10 billion.

Jobs for Displaced Workers

According to the report given on Sept 13th, 2020, more than 10,000 jobs in the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry are available to displaced tourism works in the Philippines. These particular jobs are to be made available nationwide by the end of this month. On Sept 11th, the Department of Tourism (DOT), in partnership with Concentrix Philippines, made the opportunity possible during the virtual regional job fair launch. The fair was known as “Mabuhay! Partnership: Overcoming Adversities Through New Opportunities”

During a press release given by the Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, he stated the DOT had promptly taken the project. This is because the project is expected to cater to the tourism workers who have been displaced and rendered unemployed.  He further stated that tour guides and frontline service providers have an edge more so those who speak foreign languages. Therefore finding work in the BPO industry is easier than in the tourism sector. This is because the sector has limited operations, which leaves out a huge percentage of people. It makes the BPO industry the best option for many employees who have part-time jobs available and have to work from home arrangements. This, in turn, helps the employees to earn while staying safe amid the pandemic. They can also take unemployed loan in the Philippines.

The BPO Opens New Positions

The BPO opens posts such as customer service representatives, managers, supervisors, frontline/specialists, and technical support representatives through the partnership. Other posts that the tourism workers can apply for on-site and work from home setups include Finance, human resources and recruitment, IT and the marketing sector. This is the best way to maintain social distance and still earn while at home.

Puyat also said the tourism and BPO industries are people-oriented, and the organization believes in individual talents and skills. He even believes that the people and community will rise above the crisis through the project. However, to qualify for the project, one must be at least a high school graduate and converse in English. If you’re good and able to speak a foreign language, then that is a plus. Other attributes that make one standout among the rest are a pleasant personality, good computer skills, and problem-solving skills.

It is vital to note the hiring process will be completed in less than 24 hours after a series of online interviews and assessments. From the selection process, the hired applicants will be compensated while on training. Therefore, one needs to be ready to apply for the desired post on time.

The Concentrix Philippines vice president Amit said it operates in more than 40 countries across the world. However, the Philippines is the organization’s bedrock when it comes to the investments made globally. Moreover, 30 % of its staff globally are from the Philippines, which explains why the country is its bedrock.

Amit continued to say the skill set of the hospitality industry people is very powerful and important to the organization. This is because they can interact with foreign nationals and also relate to consumers in a hospitable manner. It’s vital to remember the virtual regional job fair will be up and running on September 22, 24, 29 and Oct 1st for Luzon Cluster. That’s not all. For the Visayas Cluster, the dates to mark are September 17, 18 and Oct 1st . For the Mindanao Cluster, the dates to mark are September 15th and 16th.  Hence, mark the dates on your calendars to ensure these opportunities don’t pass you by.

Where to Get Money if You Need It Urgently

The situation with the pandemic has left many people without jobs and permanent income. Many of them have been helped to survive by government grants and special programs. The tourism industry was particularly affected as most Philippines businesses worked for foreigners who could no longer travel to the Philippines for recreation.

Unfortunately, we cannot always count on the government’s assistance. Sometimes the money is needed urgently, and a quick loan will help. If you need a quick loan to buy clothes, repair equipment, pay for training, or some other purposes, look at robocash.ph; there are good conditions for the Philippines’ residents. However, take only the amount you can repay. The company Robocash provides rapid loans to residents of the Philippines, for a period of 7 to 30 days. This will be enough if you need to borrow money before the salary at your new job.

The terms and conditions one must meet before the funds are availed are:

  • You must be between the ages of 21-70 and a Filipino citizen.
  • You are also expected to provide your government issued ID card and upload your passport.
  • One must also provide their current mobile number, which is functional
  • You must be self-employed or employed.

However, you should not overuse your loans. Take them only as a last resort and  take only the amount you can repay.
