FACEBOOK, the social media titan, has just announced and launched its Facebook Shops, the newest online shopping platform with expected billions of customers and users around the world.
Facebook calls it Shops, the mobile-first shopping experience where businesses can easily create an online storefront on Facebook and Instagram for free. With Facebook Shops, small businesses and entrepreneurs can easily display their available merchandise, customize font styles and colors, and make use of existing social media tools.
More interestingly, Facebook has partnered with other e-commerce platforms which can be fully embedded into the social media shops. These platforms include BigCommerce, ChannelAdvisor, CommerceHub, Quipt, ShipStation, Shopify, Zentail, WooCommerce, and many more.
Facebook Shops can be taken as a total makeover of the existing Facebook Marketplace, hence giving social media users the real experience and joy of shopping versus the mere chore of buying.
Currently, Facebook has yet to roll out features that would allow buyers to make purchases right within a chat, tap to learn more about products at the bottom of Facebook live videos, earn rewards through loyalty programs, and place orders without leaving the platform or with checkout pages enabled.
Steps to Set Up Your ‘Facebook Shops’ Online Store. While it may not yet be available in the Philippines as it has just been launched in the US and accordingly, will be more widely available in the coming months, here are the simple steps to create or set up your Facebook shop:
[1] Before anything else, you need to have received an email or notification that you can now use Facebook Shops. You may need to create a Commerce Account in the Commerce Manager to get started.
[2] If you’re setting up a shop on Facebook, you must: (a) be a Page Admin for the page connected to your existing Facebook Page Shop, (b) be a Business Manager admin, and (c) manage your Facebook Page and catalog in the same Business Manager account.
[3] You need to use a computer to set up your shop in Commerce Manager. Setting up a shop happens in three parts:
- Create a collection. You can create collections of six (6) to thirty (30) products.
- Customize your shop. You must choose your featured collection and customize the look and feel of your shop.
- Publish your shop. People can see your shop once Facebook reviews and approves your collections, typically within 24 hours.
